Power Grid Partners with Volks Energie for Sustainable Energy Storage
Volks Energie has partnered with Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) to transition from traditional VRLA/lead-acid batteries to more reliable and eco-friendly Nickel-Cadmium (Ni-Cd) batteries for energy storage. This collaboration aims to modernize India’s energy infrastructure, enhancing reliability and sustainability. Ni-Cd batteries offer a lifespan of over 20 years, three times longer than conventional lead-acid batteries, reducing hazardous waste and optimizing operational costs. They also provide superior performance in extreme climatic conditions, ensuring consistent energy supply. Piyush Goyal, Co-Founder and CEO of Volks Energie, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are thrilled and honored to partner with Power Grid and contribute to India’s transition toward sustainable energy.” The deployment has commenced in regions including Kargil, Dehradun, and Ambala, demonstrating Volks Energie’s capability to execute projects across diverse terrains and challenging climates.
